To shake things up on here and blow the doors open to genre-defying possibilities for the CDT Daily. And after Rosin has even gotten down to business, some rambling poetry.
I perform functions.
Occasionally diligently.
Often with an eye on the spirit above the letter.
Events happen.
Usually 3 minutes late.
Often it's really a roll of the dice.
I run on vibes.
The vibes are binary with the hammer of truth coming down on the fragility of reality.
The vibes are not peak performance.
The vibes are not life or death.
The vibes are green beans and homemade bread on a bike ride to Chattanooga.
The vibes are about family.
Mine is far away.
I thought Astrophysics was relevant because it exists.
But I'm learning philosophies exist because they were born from excitements that haven’t quieted down.
Astronomers are busy dreaming about exoplanets and stellar multiplicities.
Often dreams of futures lead to dreamy futures that look quite different from our dreams.
Modern problems, but also timeless problems, are killing our
attention
to the present & to the people & to the sounds & to the surrounds &
Often,
I want to say surrounds instead of environs.
In the end, there is no end.
And I'm looking to fill a role that doesn't exist
as a creator of community but a follower of empty objects.
Often I create powerfully empty spaces by not daring to lead a system with real people in it.
Cycling teams have members who fill out forms.
And leaders who schedule meetings.
But I forget that these things don't matter
when no one is actually there.
Groundlevel spaces in Miami aren't selling to the people that aren't shopping.
The journal forum has no future authors when there are no future readers.
Space telescopes have no funders when there are no future flyers.
The past is dead.
The future is always dreamy until we make it real.
And the present is always changing.
Le vent se leve, il faut tenter de vivre
and all that.
We can't just train teachers to teach teachers.
We need teachers to teach change makers.
We need to BE change makers to teach change makers.
Often, that means teaching change.
Often, that means leading by example.
I haven't left yet.
but soon™
